Rural thatched flint stone pub set in pretty Dorset village located next to village green and historical church, lots of walks near to the river excellent reputation for food award winning chef, finalist Dorset local pub of the year, good pub and beer guide 2008, dog friendly, food theme evenings. Daily changing specials of at least 8-12 main courses including fresh local fish, prime English meats, local game (when in season) and vegetarian dishes, homemade sweet and English cheese board. Serving 4 real ales 25 wines; 15 by the glass malt whisky menu, special quality hot drinks location just off the A37 OPEN ALL DAY SATURDAYS AND SUNDAYS food every lunch and evening.

Our philosophy at the Saxon Arms is to serve excellent quality food at affordable prices. We remain true to the principles of a rural English pub avoiding the term 'gastro pub' not to confuse us as just a purely dining venue instead great pub classics and modern innovative dishes influenced by our head chef Nigel Popperwell who hails from Dorset and has maintained two AA rosette standard since 1994. Nigel who has recently joined our team having worked in some of the best establishments in Britain and Europe including the five star Westbury Hotel, Mayfair London, The Old Government House, Guernsey and recently for Duncan Bannatyne in Hastings.
